How long does it take to build a Shopify store?
Realistic timelines for a new Shopify store and a migration to Shopify, and what slows projects down.

At Shyft Stack, a custom Shopify store takes about one to five weeks to build: a one-page store launches in about 1 week, a five-page store in 2–3 weeks and a store of 10 pages or more in 3–5 weeks. Migrating from another platform typically takes 2–4 weeks, and Shopify Plus builds with custom checkout or integrations take longer.
Those are Shyft Stack's delivery timelines once a project starts. The biggest variable is usually not the build. It is how quickly content, decisions and feedback arrive.
Typical timelines
- One-page store with up to 5 products: about 1 week
- Five-page store with up to 25 products: 2–3 weeks
- Store of 10 pages or more, with up to 100 products and international selling: 3–5 weeks
- Migration from Wix, Squarespace, WooCommerce or any other platform: typically 2–4 weeks
- Shopify POS setup: typically 1–2 weeks
- Store audit with a prioritised fix list: 5 business days
Where the time goes
- Discovery and scope: agreeing pages, features and products in writing
- Design: layouts for each unique page, with rounds of revisions
- Build: theme development, product setup, apps, payments, shipping and tax
- Testing: test orders, devices, speed and accessibility checks
- Launch: going live at a quiet time and watching the first orders
What slows a project down
- Product photos, descriptions and prices that are not ready when the build starts
- Feedback that takes a week instead of a day, at every review stage
- New features added halfway through
- Waiting on third parties, such as a payment provider, ERP vendor or domain transfer
How to launch faster
Have your products, photos, policies and logo ready before kickoff, name one person who signs off on decisions, and launch with the pages you need now rather than every page you might want. If speed matters more than budget, we offer rush delivery for an extra 30%, which takes about a third off the timeline.
Timelines in this article are Shyft Stack's published package timelines as of October 2026.
