Shopify Plus pricing in 2026: the fee, the build and the apps
What Shopify Plus really costs in 2026: the $2,300 monthly plan, the variable platform fee, payments, apps and the build, and when Plus pays for itself.

Shopify Plus starts at $2,300 a month on a three-year term, or $2,500 a month on a one-year term. Higher-volume businesses can move to a variable platform fee based on revenue, which Shopify quotes for each business rather than publishing. On top of the plan, budget for payment processing, apps and integrations, and the build itself.
Prices here are in US dollars and come from Shopify's own Plus pricing page and Help Center, checked in October 2026. Shopify changes its pricing from time to time, so confirm the numbers in your own quote.
The plan fee
- $2,300 a month on a three-year term, or $2,500 a month on a one-year term.
- Your main store and 9 expansion stores are included. Each extra store costs $300 a month.
- Unlimited staff accounts and unlimited staging stores, so your team and your agency work without seat limits.
- One brand per contract. A second brand with its own identity is normally a separate contract.
Expansion stores are where Plus often earns its keep for international brands: a separate store per region, each with its own language, currency, catalog and checkout settings, managed from one organization.
The variable platform fee
Shopify says that more complex, higher-volume businesses move from the flat fee to a variable platform fee based on revenue, and that the fee is different for direct-to-consumer and B2B sales. Shopify does not publish the rate or the threshold. Figures you will see on agency blogs are estimates, not Shopify's terms.
If your revenue is high enough that this could apply, ask Shopify for these points in writing before you sign:
- The rate for direct-to-consumer sales and for B2B sales.
- The revenue level at which the variable fee replaces the flat fee, and how revenue is counted.
- Whether the rate changes with a one-year or three-year term.
- Your card rates with Shopify Payments, which are set by country.
Payment fees
With Shopify Payments there is no extra transaction fee on Plus. Card rates vary by country and are agreed as part of your Plus contract, so volume matters here. If you keep a third-party payment provider as your main gateway, Shopify charges 0.20% per transaction for security and compliance, on top of what your provider charges.
Plus compared with Advanced
Shopify's next plan down, Advanced, costs $299 a month billed yearly, or $399 billed monthly, and includes up to 15 staff accounts. On a three-year term, Plus costs $27,600 a year against $3,588 a year for Advanced billed yearly: roughly $24,000 a year more before payment fees. That difference has to be earned back by what Plus adds:
- Checkout customization with checkout extensions, the Checkout Branding API and Shopify Functions, for both direct-to-consumer and B2B checkouts in one store.
- B2B on the same store: unlimited catalogs, catalogs assigned to specific companies and locations, deposits, partial payments and payment requests per fulfillment.
- Nine expansion stores for other regions or channels, included in the fee.
- Launchpad for scheduled sales and product drops, unlimited staff accounts and 1 TB of file storage per store.
Apps and integrations
The plan fee is rarely the biggest line once a store grows. Most Plus stores pay monthly subscriptions for reviews, subscriptions, search, loyalty, email and SMS, and many connect Shopify to an ERP, a warehouse or a wholesale tool. Plus does not make these cheaper, but it does make some of them unnecessary: Shopify Functions and checkout extensions can replace apps that only existed to work around checkout limits.
Before you upgrade, list every app you pay for and what it does. It is a quick way to find overlap, and the same list becomes the brief for your integrations. See our ERP and operations work if your stock and orders live in another system.
The build
What a Plus project costs depends on what you need from Plus. The usual drivers are:
- Moving from another platform, with products, customers, orders and redirects. Our migration package starts at $1,450 for standard stores; larger Plus migrations are quoted after a review.
- A custom theme, or a redesign of the current one.
- Checkout extensions and Shopify Functions for discounts, delivery and payment rules.
- B2B setup: companies, price lists, payment terms and wholesale ordering.
- Integrations with an ERP, warehouse or other systems.
We quote Plus work after a discovery call, as a fixed price for each phase, so you know the cost before work starts. See Shopify Plus for what we build, or the Shopify Plus and B2B package for how projects are scoped.
When Plus pays for itself
Plus is worth it when one or more of these is true:
- You sell wholesale and want B2B customers on the same store, with their own prices and payment terms.
- You need checkout rules that Advanced cannot do, such as custom discounts, delivery options or payment logic.
- You sell in several regions and want a store per region without paying for each one.
- Your team needs more than 15 staff accounts.
- Your volume is high enough that negotiated card rates save real money.
If none of those apply, Advanced with a few well-chosen apps is usually the better use of the money. Our guide to Shopify or Shopify Plus goes through the decision in more detail.
How to get an accurate number
- Add up what you pay today: platform, apps, payment fees and developer time.
- Ask Shopify for a written Plus quote, including the variable fee terms and your card rates.
- Scope the build: what has to change in the theme, checkout, B2B and integrations.
- Compare the total over three years, not one month.
If you would like a second opinion on the numbers, book a call. We will tell you honestly whether Plus is worth it for your store.
