Shopify or Shopify Plus: which do you need?
The practical differences between Shopify and Shopify Plus, and the signs that your brand is ready to upgrade.

Shopify Plus costs considerably more than standard Shopify plans, so the question is not whether Plus is better, but whether you will use what it adds.
What Shopify Plus adds
- Checkout customization with checkout extensions and Shopify Functions
- B2B features such as company accounts, price lists and payment terms
- Expansion stores for separate regions or brands
- Shopify Flow and Launchpad for automation and scheduled launches
- Higher API limits and priority support
Signs you are ready
- You need to change how checkout works, not just how it looks
- You sell to trade customers and run wholesale on a separate system
- Your team spends hours on tasks Flow could automate
- You are launching in new countries with their own catalogs
When standard Shopify is enough
If your checkout needs are standard and you sell in one or two markets, the Advanced plan often covers you. Upgrade when a specific Plus feature solves a problem you can put a cost on.
